Gentium’s manufacturing plant supplies active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) to various pharmaceutical companies around the world. The API’s are extracted from natural sources and include sulglicotide (gastrointestinal protective properties), heparin (property of delaying the clotting of freshly shed blood) and urokinase (thromboembolic disorders). These API’s are then processed to final drug products and marketed in Italy and other countries by several different pharmaceutical companies.
